There are a few things we do not know still, but here is the run down of things we do. Please forgive any typos as I am typing on my phone, always a challenge for me.
Kris has been complaining the last couple of days of having a sore throat. Last night she was admitted to the hospital because it was getting to a point where it was becoming extremly painful. At first they thought she had an infection in her throat and gave her iv antibiotics. At 5:30a this morning, I received a call from a nurse here at the hospital letting me know that the swelling in her neck had gotten to the point where it was affecting her breathing and they needed to intubate her and I needed to come.
About 30 minutes after the papers were signed to take her to surgery to drain the fluid, we received the final CT scan results and learned the swelling is not fluid, but in fact her lymph nodes. This brings with it a whole new set of questions as there was no cancer in the lymph nodes of her neck before.
Needless to say, I have been anxiously waiting to speak with her oncologist and the very kind nurse here has accommodated my requests to send him numerous messages of “When are you coming?” The latest I heard was around 5p.
Because she is on a ventilator, they have her sedated and she will remain so for the few days, unless the swelling goes down sooner. I have no idea if she knows the boys and Thomas and I are here, but I hope she does.
Please keep her in your thoughts. I will update once I know more
